camera trap survey

When I first trekked to the Veal Thom Grasslands and stood on one of the high savanna hills with views all around, my eyes were drawn not so much to the grasslands themselves -which are spectacular- but to the high jungle-clothed mountains that form the natural border with Laos. The question that kept popping up in my mind was: what kind of wildlife is still hiding out there? We decided to find out. A proper wildlife camera trapping survey had not been conducted there in about 8 years when we started the project in early 2014, and the results thus far have been amazing: black bear, sun bear, gaur, clouded leopard, marbled cat, golden cat, dhole, douc langurs, and so much more. And we're just getting started!
